It wasn't long before these settlers learned to supplement their income by renting out parcels to visitors wanting to escape the valley heat, and soon the economy became dependent on the tourist industry. Not long after that, a group of landscape painters discovered the natural beauty of the area, and thus the foundation of the art community which still thrives today was born. The artists added a flair of diversity to Laguna, and their living spaces reflected that fact.
