Retaining Walls

A retaining wall has many uses and many looks: from the very plain utility wall to a beautifully enhanced stone wall for a lovely home, to major privacy to holding back a slope.  There are certain construction aspects that are particular only to retaining walls that can and do change from city to city.

Most retaining walls over three feet in height require a permit from the city.  In certain cases various reports may be required before an engineer can submit a set of drawings for approval and permit issuance.  Frequently there are unexpected costs because of these additional reports.  Also each city charges fees for permits.  Inspections, reports and permits all must occur and approved before a final cost for the actual work can be given.

Once all the engineering has been completed, the construction can begin.  Click below see a video recording of the construction of a beautiful stone wall with time-lapse photography.
